8 Country Activities That Are Perfect For Summer | Country PR
You are here:

Our Country PR Team love the magnificent British countryside, but even they have to admit they prefer the countryside in the summer! In this feature, we share eight country activities to enjoy in the sunshine this season.

Take A Picnic

There is nothing sweeter than eating alfresco in the summer and taking a picnic along for a day out is a wonderful way to enjoy some of the UK’s best beauty spots and central city parks. Make sure you dispose of all your litter when you finish so that someone else can enjoy the stunning surroundings another time and day. Need some inspiration? Here are the National Trust’s Perfect Picnic Spots

Enjoy A Music Festival

How about enjoying some live music or dancing in a field with thousands of other people under the stars? Pack your Hunter Boots, waterproof mac and something warm to fully enjoy the numerous music events around the country this summer. Our favourite music festival? Our Country PR & Marketing Team personally recommend Wilderness in Cornbury Park. A fantastic music event that all the family can enjoy this great festival also focuses on well-being, culture, food and the arts.

Visit A County Shows

Nothing beats a great family day out than a great British county show. Celebrating the countryside in one spectacular event takes lots of planning and forethought. One of the many county shows we love is Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show in August. From heavy horses, through to horticulture, this show packs fabulous entertainment and remarkable experiences into two days.

Go Open Swimming

If swimming is your thing, then open swimming (that’s swimming in lakes) should undoubtedly be on your list of things to do this summer! We love Shepperton Open Waters in Surrey. You can hire wet suits and can book in with a swim coach. You have to pay to swim, but at £5 it’s worth giving it a go!

Try Horse Riding

Saddle up and explore the beautiful countryside on horseback. Riding a horse enables you to get off-road and experience some of the UK’s best bridlepaths. If you’re a complete novice, you’ll probably need some lessons before you can ride out on a ‘hack’. Discover your nearest riding school through the British Horse Society.

Go For A Bicycle Ride

Save money and the planet by hopping on your bike and going for a long ride exploring the numerous towpaths that weave around our British rivers and canals. The Canal River Trust have some great suggestions to try this summer!

Enjoy Extra Long Dog Walks

There is nothing the Canine PR Team enjoy more than walking our dogs. Choose early morning or early evening and both you and your dog will enjoy the perfect temperature and the beautiful British countryside.

Discover Wine

We love to support British made products and produce wherever we can. Showcasing some of Hampshire’s finest English wines is the Vineyards Of Hampshire Festival. Sample more than 16 award-winning still and sparkling wines and book into one of the many masterclasses including ‘Food & Wine Pairing’.
