Without meaning to sound, well… mean, the recent photographs of Taylor Swift in her “equestrian inspired” outfit didn’t really do it for me. As a former stylist, I sat there looking at her outfit combo thinking that the Plum coloured boots clashed with the Poppy Red jacket, the hair style with the hat unfortunately looked frumpy as opposed to sexy, and the bag just looked a tad out of place…
So, if you want to emulate the Taylor Swift equestrian in the city look, but pull it off even better – in my humble, ex-stylist opinion, anyway – then here is my more refined version!
The hat
From what I can see of it, the hat looks very much like the Stella McCartney Wool Baseball Cap, which I absolutely love… but I think Taylor should have worn her hair up swept up into messy bun to accommodate this look – after all, wearing a riding helmet doesn’t work with hair down and the same principle applies with this style of hat.
The coat
Taylor’s coat mimics a traditional hunt coat, but how about something with more shape for that extra oomph? I love this jacket by Anastasia Fashions on Spartoo. It’s a flattering length, has a cute collar and check out that cut – totally sexy and ticks the equestrian box to boot!
The jodhpurs
On the leggings front, I love these Ralph Lauren versions, which are really cute and easy to wear, and much, much nicer than Tan…
The boots
A pair of boots with an equestrian touch from Russell & Bromley offer some city equestrian sleek in-between – and completely gorgeous!
The bag
As we all know, the pièce de résistance for any outfit is the bag, and I love the Saddlebag by Dior, which would tie the whole look together with its beautiful chrome stirrup detailing!
