Rustic Farmhouse Decor Ideas To Fall In Love With - MirrorMePR
You are here:

The MirrorMePR Country PR Team like to take inspiration from the countryside and incorporate it into their homes. In this blog we are going to share with you, our top tips for transforming your urban flat or town house into a countryside retreat with a few of our favourite farmhouse touches (while looking uber stylish of course)

Mix & Match

Shabby chic is great if done well. If done badly it could transform your flat into looking more like a charity shop than chez chic, so choose your pieces wisely. If you are mixing old with new, then cherry pick a statement piece of furniture that is rustic or vintage and compliment with accessories with the feel. A hint as opposes to full on complete over kill is the best rule of thumb.

A vintage mirror in the bathroom is a gorgeous way to bring some charm to a modern bathroom and can be picked up easily at flea markets. Go for something with a decadent feel for the past, and you will be right on this season’s hottest interior trend.

Go Natural

Using natural materials, such as unpolished wood as a table surface can add charm and history to a centre piece table or even coffee table in a living area.

Tongue and groove planks used to clad the walls of a spacious bathroom and painted white offer old fashioned charm to a contemporary flat or house.

Try upcycling pieces of furniture. An old work bench is perfect for the kitchen or a big armchair reupholstered in a gorgeous contemporary fabric will bring yesteryear into a modern setting.

While we would all love an Aga in the kitchen, if space or cash doesn’t allow, then add a touch of rustic via mismatched traditional wooden stools and vintage inspired metal signs. Exposed wood shelving is also a great way to save space and beats MDF shelves.

Paint & Transform

If space allows in the kitchen, a stand alone big cabinet, repainted with chalk paint with glass panels, is the perfect place to store your crockery. On display but not in your face and a talking point for the kitchen. We love this range of paints from our clients La Di Da and if you need some help, the team also run Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Workshops  to turn that chest of drawers into a stylish masterpiece!

Animal Magic

Choose art that reflects the countryside. From feathers, pheasant through to sheep and cows, modern art can still find inspiration from art and bring the countryside to even the urbanest of homes. We love any cushions featuring wildlife so keep an eye out for these as well!

And as soon as they arrive? We can’t resist these fabulous door mats, also from La-Di-Da Interiors.
