New Year and New Resolutions... - MirrorMePR

Another year and another list of New Year’s resolutions have been made… having pooled together a long list of our associated riders’ resolutions (see our recent news story), I thought maybe it was time I added my own – so without further ado, here is my (very) tongue in cheek set of my own horsey resolutions…

  1. DO NOT PURCHASE MORE GILETS

I don’t know why I have an obsession with this particular riding garment but I just do – possibly because you can brilliantly colour co-ordinate them with horse bandages and saddlecloths? Or perhaps because they provide somewhere to stash your phone when riding, which is incredibly useful? Regardless, I currently have WAY too many!

  1. BUY A WATERPROOF JACKET

The reality of my situation, which is that I do in fact live and ride in the UK and don’t have my own indoor school, should mean that I own a bountiful wardrobe full of waterproof garments to choose from for when the UK weather lives up to its reputation – but the reality is that I have none. Nice cotton bomber jackets in pastel shades and baby blue breeches, on the other hand? Yes, I’ve got plenty of them.

  1. LEARN WHERE MY ARENA MARKERS ARE

Having ridden for far too long and even having ridden actual dressage tests, I have to confess that I still don’t know where all my markers are. I’ve tried memorising rhymes (All The Kings Horses or something…) and drawing them out on paper, but as soon as I get in an arena, my mind goes blank! The same applies to ‘rising on the right diagonal’. Oh well.

  1. ENJOY MY RIDING IN 2015

I am going to enjoy my riding in 2015 – even when it is hailing, raining, or gale force winds are blowing and I still don’t have waterproof clothing!
