Horse Of The Year Show is always a calendar highlight for our Equine Marketing Team and an event we look forward to every year. This year, the show returns with even more exciting elements. We’ve got our visit planned already and here are a few of our favourite highlights.

Show Off

There is something magical about seeing beautifully turned out horses and riders under the spotlight at HOYS. One of our favourite elements of the showing classes is the SEIB Search for a Star series, which allows amateur riders to compete at this prestigious show and be crowned Champion! We constantly reach for the clippers from Riding Horses, Hunters and Ponies when we return home from HOYS! (there is a show horse under all that woolly coat somewhere!)

Horsemanship, A HOYS Highlight!

HOYS is a fantastic event to see horsemanship at it’s best. With so many different classes and displays Horse Of The Year Show ticks the boxes for us! One display that will have us glued to our seats is the Jehol Le Spectacle. For those of us who struggle to get onto our horses from a mounting block, be prepared to be wowed by horsemanship and althleticism!

Jump To It

The Showjumping at HOYS always draws big international names. An opportunity to see fresh, new emerging talent under the spotlight at this prestigious UK equestrian event. Watching the agility, speed and athletism of both horse and rider is always a thrill to watch.

Horsing Around

There’s some great entertainment to make you smile. Some of the Horse Of The Year Show Highlights we enjoy are the Heavy Horses,  Minature Horses, and Pony Club Mounted Game. The shopping area is always the perfect excuse to get those horsey bits and pieces that we all don’t need but can’t resist!

Our Essential Horse Of The Year Tips

Wear comfortable shoes and take layers. You inevitably end up doing a lot of walking. Wear shoes that won’t hurt your feet. Wearing layers means that you can remove these when required, as temperatures tend to fluctuate within the building.

If you’re planning on shopping, take advantage of the ‘Shop & Drop’ service to enable you to enjoy the rest of the event bag free whilst keeping your purchase safe.

If you fancy treating yourself, upgrade your ticket to the Champions Bar Experience; complimentary tea and coffee, all-day access to the show and panoramic views of the Andrew Bowen International Arena. A great way to get away from the crowds and enjoy a glass or two of bubbles!
