A shot of the legs of Polo players and their horses as they engage in a game of Polo

From sportspeople to celebrities to fashion trailblazers, it seems that everyone thinks horses are cool at the moment!

A while ago we attended the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Polo event, and as well as the polo stars, there were plenty of familiar faces from the film, fashion and TV industries gracing the event, including TV presenter/style icon Alexa Chung, former model Jodie Kidd, PPQ fashion guru Amy Molyneaux, and actress Tolula Adeyemi. But it seems polo isn’t the only area in which celebrities are highlighting their passion for equestrianism!

Back in February, Bruce Springsteen’s show jumping daughter Jessica Springsteen was appointed as part of Gucci’s team of Equestrian Ambassadors, which no doubt further raised the profile of and interest in the brand’s ‘Equestrian Collection’. Plus, Alexander McQueen, one of my all time favourite designer labels, recently featured horses in their gothic fairytale Autumn/Winter 2014 campaign, alongside none other than British supermodel (and equestrian enthusiast) Edie Campbell. Previous X-Factor winner Leona Lewis is another high-profile celebrity horse lover; so much so that back in the Spring it was announced that she has been awarded the title of Honorary President for this year’s prestigious Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).

I’ve always felt that there is a strong fashion and equestrian crossover, because we see this so often in many of the brands we represent! They either stock equestrian garments which are based upon catwalk trends, or they have been inspired to translate these fashion crazes into more functional riding wear.

And now we also have equine influences from the fields of film and music – well, it’s the perfect combination!
