  • Celebrate #CountryInnBedBreakfastDay With These Beautiful Luxury Countryside Inns

October features #CountryInnBedBreakfastDay and our Country Brands PR Team have handpicked some of their favourite Bed & Breakfasts in the UK to tempt you this autumn;

The Cott Inn, Totnes, Devon

This beautiful thatched inn has been welcoming tired travellers since 1320AD.  Combining boutique-style decor to their rooms, The Cott Inn combines its reputation for being one of the oldest thatched inns in the country with comfortable, modern rooms to retire within. A family-run pub, they are proud to serve up Devon meats, local line-caught fish alongside vegetarian and vegan dishes.

The Hand & Spear, Weybridge, Surrey

Set in the heart of Weybridge and next to the mainline train station, it’s perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. The Hand & Spear has 12 individually designed boutique bedrooms, each beautifully decorated with interconnecting rooms to allow families up to 5 to stay together available and a vibrant pub serving gourmet pub food. Initially constructed by Lord King, the Baron Of Ockham, in 1833 it was used as a summer house until it was turned into a hotel with the advent of the railway in 1838. With Sandown Park, Mercedes Benz World and the Brooklands Museum a short distance by cab or train, you can fulfil your need for both forms of ‘horse power’ or take a trip back in time to Hampton Court Palace.

Hever Castle, Edenbridge, Kent

B&B doesn’t get much grander than staying in a castle! The 13th-century double-moated castle features two accommodation wings, the Astor Wing and the Anne Boleyn Wing.  Entering the grounds via a private gated entrance, you’ll discover that all the rooms are individually styled with antiques and plush furnishings. Overnight guests can also enjoy the castle grounds after they close to the public – worth staying over even if it’s just to feel like a real Queen or King of your very own private castle! Breakfast is taken within these wings, and the Moat Restaurant serves lunch during public opening hours.

The Old Lock-Up, Derbyshire, Dales

First built in 1842 as a magistrate’s house then as a police station for 100 years, this B&B promises to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth! Situated in the beautiful market town of Wirksworth, it is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Steeped in history, this building has been sympathetically renovated, retaining many original features and a fresh contemporary feel. Our favourite room has to be the Solicitor’s Room, which was originally used for lawyers to talk to their clients in private. We love the bathroom which has been created in the adjacent cell.  Serving up locally sourced ingredients, home-baked bread and delicious breakfast, they can also cater for evening meals in served with wine. Perfect to celebrate #CountryInnBedBreakfastDay!

Avebury Lodge B&B, Avebury, Wiltshire

This beautiful vegetarian and vegan bed and breakfast sits inside Avebury’s stone circle, a 5500-year-old henge with all guest rooms overlooking the henge, stones and surrounding countryside. Furnished with antiques, rare prints and paintings, all the rooms feature king-sized beds, large flat-screen TV’s, complimentary wifi, beverages and toiletries. A beautifully period style dining room is the setting for breakfast with views across the largest stone circle in the world!
