Cobham Village, Kent

England’s renowned Victorian novelist, Charles Dickens loved this quaint village so much so, he even included its ale house, ‘The Leather Bottle’ in ‘The Pickwick Papers’. You can still experience this timeless beautiful village and its famous drinking hole to sample its exclusive ‘Charles Dickens Ale’ and extensive menu. Don’t forget to take a look at some of the fabulous Dickensian memorabilia.

Grasmere, Cumbria

Home of another renowned historical name, poet William Wordsworth, Grasmere is a visual and tasting delight: boasting beautiful 17th Century buildings, a world-famous gingerbread store and an award-winning chocolatier. Once you’ve sampled these delights, you can always walk it off taking in the beautiful Lake District scenery.

Portmeirion, Gwynedd, Wales

With its pastel coloured building and cobbled streets, this purpose-built resort was created in the 20th Century by British architect Sir Clough Willams-Ellis. It’s Mediterranean styling, and lush perfectly manicured gardens make this a worthwhile  visit if you are looking for something more than just your ‘average’ English village.

Muker, North Yorkshire

This beautiful village with its 18th century stone barns, protected wildflower meadows and beautiful surroundings is a lovely place to visit and stay. Check out the Muker Tea Shop offering en-suite B&B accommodation and delicious food and afternoon tea. Open for British summer time and worth a visit!

Ombersley, Worcestershire

If Elizabethan and Jacobean houses are your thing, you will adore this peaceful village full of beautifully restored homes from this period. You also have The Malvern Hills and Shropshire Hills on your doorstep alongside plenty of quaint pubs and eateries.

Stanton, Gloucestershire

This 17th Century village is built in honey-coloured limestone and has retained its timeless Cotswolds appeal that you feel like you really have stepped back in time. Their church even dates back to the 12th Century, and we love their local, The Mount Inn (also dog-friendly!). Full 3-course lunch or light bites, it’s a must on a visit to this picture-perfect village!
