2018 is the Chinese ‘Year Of The Dog’, so what does that mean? Well, here at MirrorMe luxury UK PR, we’re pretty excited to see that fashion designers and clothing brands have taken our beloved canines as inspiration and introduced fashion that’s gone to the dogs (quite literally), as dog inspired fashion prints become big fashion news this season.

So how do you take this dog trend fashion for a walk this season? The MirrorMe luxury UK PR team share their tips for adding plenty of woof appeal to your own country fashion wardrobe this spring:

Sniffing Out A Trend

The trend for dog inspired fashion has been seen across the board. From retro-inspired lifestyle brand Cath Kidston who has introduced the most adorable sausage dog print inspired fashion pieces and translated them across their collection. We’ve also spotted country classic label Joules exercising some adorable kitsch doggie prints too, including a pair of dog print wellies we all love.

Furtastic

Faux fur is undoubtedly the big fashion story. Whether it’s featured on jacket collars or cuffs, poncho hems or full-length faux fur coats. Add some animal magic by choosing long-haired versions to ensure you could easily secure Crufts best in show!

Kitsch to Kennel In Your Style

For this theme to really work well, you need to look for retro and kitsch inspired pieces. Go for bold colour and pattern statements. From hand-drawn prints through to pop art inspired dog illustrations on sweatshirts, bold is best.

Less Is More

Go for the ‘less is more’ rule of dressing. Top to tail in dog inspired fashion garments won’t have the fashionistas howling for more. Pick one piece to lead your inner cockapoo ahead of the fashion pack, but remember, you want to look fashionable, not like you’re in fancy dress.

Accessories Make The Outfit

If the thought of paying ‘homage to the hound’ is filling you with fear, then take it down a level with a simple piece of jewellery, a tasteful print scarf or a cute canvas bag with some canine inspiration. This Hound Necklace from our clients Sylvia Kerr Jewellery delivers a touch of VIP (Very Important Pooch) to any outfit.

Fetch This Look

You can grab this look easily and quickly, but for longevity choose pieces which will work with the rest of your wardrobe and have a purpose in life. A gimmicky dog T-shirt is fun for a season or two, but a dog print umbrella or a handsome hound handbag will probably get more of a run in the long term.
